Effect of Glass Composition on Sinterability of Copper Terminal Paste for Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

Low-melting glass with an optimal composition should be developed for application to Cu electrodes in multilayered ceramic capacitors (MLCCs). This study evaluated the transition temperature, plating solution resistance, and wettability of melts on substrates low-melting a conventional compositions BaO, TiO2, ZnO, V2O5 added 46SiO2/27B2O3/27Na2O (mol%). Moreover, we produced electrode paste MLCC using designed glasses characteristics terms terminal sintering. The resistance was improved by adding TiO2 46SiO2/27B2O3/22Na2O/5BaO (mol%) glass.
